Maribel Calvo – Local Pastor

Maribel is married to Steve Calvo and they have a son Micah. Maribel was born in Puerto Rico and has been involved with the General Board of Global Ministry of the United Methodist Church in both Brazil and Mexico. Already reaching out into our community; volunteering at the Food Pantry, visiting and praying with people at the dialysis center, and helping out with Sidewalk Sunday School, Maribel has shown the heart of a disciple.
“I am very excited to start to build our ministry among the Hispanic communities in Safford, Thatcher, Pima, and other areas within Graham County,” Maribel said during a recent interview. We are enjoying her enthusiasm, personality and the wealth of her ministry with us.
Maribel has been leading our Hispanic Ministry through the development of ongoing English As A Second Language classes. A Citizenship Class is also being offered. All classes are free.
In the Spring of 2015, Maribel was appointed to First United Methodist Church in Safford and her status as Lay Minister evolved to Local Pastor.
