First United Methodist Church wins in the Cinco de Mayo Parade

Again this year First United Methodist Church was represented in the Cinco de Mayo parade sponsored by St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. With no theme for the parade, the youth group decided to make the theme of their float

“Why can’t we get along?” Youth spent Friday, May 4th at the church making flowers, wrapping the arch with streamers and painting signs and decorating the float. Roger Munoz brought his sound system and was able to get Kenny Chesney’s song “Get Along” to play throughout the parade. Thanks to the Thatcher Fire Dept. who was parked in front of us for some help getting the throttle working on the generator. Thanks too to Dr. Joe Bull for lending us the generator, and it wouldn’t have happened without Steve Haralson for pulling the trailer. We were the VERY last float of the parade. #33! But it was worth it, because a week later Rev. Sherry Brady was surprised to receive a Best Float Entry trophy from Victor Gene Ornelas of St. Rose of Lima. We have entered many times and have never won an award! Congratulations youth! All your hard work was worth it.IMG-0790IMG-0758IMG-0760
