Wishing you were in New Orleans for Mardi Gras but there is just no way you can get there? Try the next best thing. The Gila Valley Ministerial Association invites the public to its first annual Mardi Gras celebration on Fat Tuesday, February 13th from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. at The Plank Restaurant located at 501 S Gila Ave. Fat Tuesday is the night of celebration on the eve of the period of Lent, which is 40 days before Easter in the Christian calendar. There will be traditional Mardi Gras dishes such as jambalaya, gumbo, and dirty rice finishing with the King’s Cake. Along with good food there will be dancing to the band Desert Thunder. Tickets are $20 up to February 9th and are available at the Plank, Vining Funeral Home or call Rev. Sherry Brady @ 965-4607. Tickets go to $25 at the door. This fundraiser is to help establish a homeless shelter.
